Default Help for new recording

I am a mother of a pianist. She has a Yamaha YPG 625 keyboard and wants to record her music to the computer so we can then burn it to an audio CD. It's important that we do this for college purposes. We have tried everything that the manual tells us but to no avail. We did get the songs on a flash but they could not be recorded because user perission ? was not there. Any help would be great. Also, will the transfer always sound like .midi or can it sound like the actual recording? Thanks everyone

If you want to record the sounds of the piano just as you hear them, then you need to run a stereo cord from the back, into an audio interface (Use the Soundcard Wizard on this Site) and record into some kind of software (Audacity is free, if you buy an interface for $100 or so, it will probably come with good software).

If you want to capture the MIDI, then it can be done through the USB interface that is part of the Yamaha. However to then hear music, the MIDI must be played back through some type synthesizer, either the stuff included in WiIdows, or free or commercial plugins running in some software like Audacity.

I don't know anything about your problems with recording permissions. You should probably contact Yamaha support on that issue.

Good luck, Dave
