Default Hello from Texas

Glad to be here. I'm a 56 year old teacher. I play a bit of mandolin and sax and am here to learn more about getting decent home recordings. I finally figured out after nearly a year (slow learner) that I can get a better vocal with my SM58 than with my large diaphragm Studio Projects C1. I use room treatment, but obviously, it wasn't enough to keep my SP C1 from sounding hollow.
Sometimes cheaper is better.

SoundClick artist: Jerry Bradley - Mandolin, guitar and saxophone player. Recreational song writing and desktop recording is my fun.

You are definitely right. Price is only a factor when you are shelling out the money. After that, it's a non issue. All my mics are more or less equal even though some are very expensive and some very inexpensive. The only thing that matters is making the music effective.
