I have started about three months ago stransforming into the digital recording world from the old tape machine. I have pretty much got the software down, Cubase LE, with a yamaha MW12 USB mixer. It has taking some time to get things set-up and going, udating drivers and the like, but I think I am getting closer. I came across this site last week ad have found quite a bit of useful info on set-up as well as recording tips I can't wait to use. One minor problem I do have is I can only record on track at a time. Meaning I can't record say guitar and vocals onto seperate tracks without comingleling the sound. Any Ideas would be a great help... Dean C |

You need to make sure that the signal from your vocal mic is going straight into the soundcard and the playback of previously recorded tracks is not being routed to whatever output is heading to the computer. I'm not sure what kind of control you have in your Yamaha. Hopefully using busses, auxes, etc you can come up with a solution that will allow you to hear audio in your headphones from the other tracks but only send the signal you are recording to the computer.
