Default Hello Hello

Getting tired of the nagging about not posting, so here it is. Been looking around a bit, and seems like this place might fit me better than some of the others I've been participating in. I've been home recording for a couple years - but I'm not very productive. I get a song tracked, and then I spend months goofing with it trying to get it to sound "pro", and never quite achieving that.

Welcome aboard. I have learned a ton already here and it has really helped my recording.

I discuss this problem in my upcoming home recording book. You are much better off to record 100 songs and mix them each 10 times than you are tracking 10 songs and mixing them 100 times. If tracking went well, you shouldn't need to do too much during mixing anyway.

I keep telling myself that... The problem comes, I think, from not seeing the recordings for what they are - a recording of a single performance of the song, but instead, seeing them as a piece of work that will never be repeated - like a novel or something.
