Although I already posted this on another forum, this one seems to be the most appropriate one.
I'm 33 years old, living in The Netherlands, and have been a professional video-editor for about 10 years. Recently a friend of mine gave me a listen to a demo cd of a rock band she's doing the management for. I listened to the cd and although the songs were fine and well written, the music just didn't do it for me because it was poorly mixed. While still being interested in their music, I tried to do some equalizing and a bit of compression to make it better sounding (at least in my book). It didn't work out too bad and she was really enthousiastic about what I did. She took my version to the leader of the band, who is the lead vocalist and guitarist and records everything himself.
Things started to go on a roll after that and I ended up getting the separate recording tracks of one particular song to give it a go my own way.
During the search on how to get everything to sound right I ended up here on recordingreview.com and I learned a lot that I could use in my specific situation.
So, here I am, looking forward to a great new hobby and a forum to help me trough the inevitable troublesome times.
Cheers,
Matthieu
