Hey, Glen!
Glad to see you have found Brandon's site.
I've really benefited from your advice, as well as Brandon's, so finding you here now is like finding chocolate in my peanut butter.
Welcome!
I guess since I posted in one of the AE threads, I should introduce myself formally here:
I am a Chicago, Illinois-based digital media engineer with over 30 years of professional experience in audio recording and engineering, video editing and production, and large-scale website design and management.
Along with a friend, I built my first home recording studio in 1979 based around an ARP 2600 analog synthesizer and the rare Sequential Circuits Model 800 sequencer, custom interfaced with a TRS-80 microcomputer, a Teac A3340 4-track open-reel tape recorder, and a Pioneer RT-1020L 10" two-track open-reel recorder. Since that time, I has spent many years of experience working with a multitude of local and nationally-recognized artists and bands in live and controlled-environment recording situations.
Late in the '90s, I merged a two-decade-long computer development and support career with my media production experience when I joined the engineering team at D-Vision Systems (and later Discreet Logic) that designed and built the first digital broadcast-grade audio/video editing software and hardware for the WindowsNT platform. While there, I worked with editors for and equipment used on movies such as "Lonesome Dove", "Forrest Gump", and "ID4: Independence Day". I followed that up as a Project Architect at Geneer Corporation in 1999 before going freelance as a digital media engineer.
In 2010, I also became associated with Product Recording, a small project recording studio, as an audio engineering and post-production consultant. Pictures pf this studio along with me and some of my assocaites (and a client or two) can be found by clicking here.
I also spent evenings for a couple of years attending the famous Old Town School of Folk Music, where I trained under the personal tutelage and mentorship of Joe Filisko, the internationally-renowned blues harp player, consultant to Hohner Corporation, and custom high-end harp manufacturer whose clients include Howard Levy, Kim Wilson and Bruce Willis.
My clients over the years have included notables such as Superstation WGN-TV, Jim Henson Productions (The Muppets), Metro Digital L.A., Super Video Broadcasting, Hewlett-Packard, Blind Dog Studios, Bass Pro Shops, The French Government Tourist Office, COMDEX, Navy Pier, McCormick Place Expo Center, and the Museum Of Science and Industry. He has worked with musicians for Stevie Wonder, John Hiatt, Buddy Guy, Spirit, The Remainders, The Funky Meters, and American English, as well as many local bands including American Slang, The Hotheads, The Neverly Brothers, The Wombats, and Little Big Men.

Hey, Glen!

Welcome!
You got peanut butter on my chocolate!
I discovered this place when I was tracing back the visitor statistics for my website this morning and saw a number of them coming from here. That's when I discovered that they actually "stickied" a thread about my frequency chart here. As I put a post in that thread, I figured it was only fair to formally introduce myself here while I was at it.
Honestly I don't know how much time I will be spending on any forums, here or elsewhere, at least for a while. I'm trying to wean myself off of them a bit and spend more time actually getting some things done; I'm not getting any younger, ya know. Maybe if some subject grabs my interest, like Angie saying she's gotten tired of Brad and is looking to get an older audio engineer into her life, but otherwise, I'm going to try and concentrate more on the website, as it's gone kind of neglected lately.
But thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you found some of my ramblings useful.
G.
