Hi!
My name is Jan and I'm from Slovenia, a (too) small country in Central Europe. I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. Seriously, I like music and film in all aspects. I have started recording a year ago. I've been using Cubase SX3 after I heard my first mix ever, recorded track by track through a crappy sound card in audacity, then exported into sonic or something. It was awful.. Well, lucky for me I knew that and learned (and am still learning) how to use Cubase.
I don't have a lot of equipment. I have just two microphones (one dynamic, one LD condenser), a small old Behringer mixer, a Sound Blaster card and a lot of luck in recording I must say. Right now I'm expecting an Echo AudioFire 4 from New York (my first shipment from The USA!) and a small tube mic preamp from Germany. I hope these will be good investments... I spent a lot of time reading articles on the internet about micing, mixing, this and that. I think it really helps me with my recordings, because it's not just blind luck. I haven't had a lot of experience with analog equipment as such, but I played around with tons of free plug-ins. A lot of these things have a lot of potential. These days I only have a few plug-ins that I really use when I work.
My goal is to get a lot of experience with recording, editing, mixing. Right now I'm just recording my band, because I still don't feel secure enough about my methods to put an ad in the papers!
I doubt anyone has read all of this, but if you read this, I owe you a snickers bar or something. You truly amaze me.

Cheers
Jan
