Getting started... finally

Hello. After being a member of the forum for longer than I can remember I am finally making my first post!

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is John and I guess I consider myself a beginner. Back in the late 90's I had a seasound solo ex which I loved and (literally) used to death. Nothing brought me more joy than creating music. For the last few years I've been traveling, working, and studying around the world, and I just couldn't justify investing in recording equipment when I didn't have enough room in my suitcases to fit any instruments.

However, early next year I will be flying back to the good ol' USA, picking up all of my old instruments from my fathers basement and hopefully settling down some place where I can build a great little home studio! I'm currently working out my budget and putting together a "shopping list". I've been scouring the forums for tips and advice and it seems like a great online community. I look forward to learning, and hopefully contributing.

Just for kicks I attached a song I threw together while bored in my room a few months ago. I used Garageband and Reason for the music. Vocals were recorded with the internal macbook pro mic and an iphone headset.
