Default bleeding tracks...

I use cubase LE4 and for some reason the tracks bleed into one another. I thought maybe it was a mic thing but it shows up on keyboard tracks as well. has anyone else run into this strange problem?

Yes, I seem to remember someone else mentioning something similar just a couple weeks/months back. Not sure if he ever found a solution. You could try searching for the thread. But anyway...

What exactly do you hear/see? Previously recorded information appearing on newly recorded tracks? Like your monitored audio is being re-recorded onto the newer tracks?

What audio interface are you using? Is it setup correctly? Has this just started happening? Did it work before? Ever?

The wizards here are going to need a little bit more info from you to help you...

the 'bleeding' has been happening from the start. The track ends up on other tracks at a lesser volume but still fairly prominent. could it be that I need a better sound card than the one in my computer? I thought I was getting away with not having one.

thanks!

I don't know if this will help but you never know - it certainly sounds like a similar problem:

Cubase Recording Onto New Track

I'd be interested to know what happens when you record a dead input. Basically, trying to figure out what is being recorded.

I know little about the Multimix8 but you need to make sure that you aren't recorded the signal you are using to send to your headphones. For example, if you are recording a vocal, that vocal (by itself) needs to be routed to the appropriate track in the recording software and not the combined signal of the vocals and other music.

ah...you are on to something. How do I 'route' the send to the right place?

This depends on the Multimix 8. What options do you have for inputs in Cubase? If you press 4 and select inputs, you should be able to click on all the possible inputs for the Multimix 8. If you have the USB 1.1 version, it may only be the stereo inputs (which would be the stereo out from you Alesis Multimix 8).

Ideally, you would be able to select Channel #1 (where your mic is) and that would be routed directly to the track. If this isn't possible, you'll need to figure out a way in the Multimix 8 to send only the vocal to the stereo output of the mixer and maybe control your headphone mix elsewhere.
