Hi folks!
I was searching for tips and advice for my MRS-1608 when I stumbled across this site. I spent a few hours reading various threads and I must say there is plenty here to learn. As I type this I am also searching for the elusive UIB-02 interface for my MRS-1608 and I'm afraid I'm SOL. Ironically, I bought my unit brand new about 2 years ago and am just getting around to really trying to get some decent demo stuff laid down. Of course I have plugged in a few mics and hung them from the ceiling to record our practices a bit but this time I have yanked us out of the Mackie and into the 1608. So far, so good but it's a slow process indeed. Thanks for having me. Brent |

Believe it or not, I started out with Pro Tools and sold it. It was great but at that time I only wanted to record our practices and it was too time consuming during practice to work with for me. I bought the Zoom, stuck a foot switch on it and during times of inspiration or practice I hit the switch and go.
I agree that one is likely better off with 100% computer now but I have the Zoom and wanna use it for a bit longer. I thought I'd use the UIB-02 for storage. After reading your site I'll probably step up to another PC and Cubase at some point. Does it work well with laptops and what interface would you recommend? Thanks for your site and your reply! As for audio interfaces, I'm of the opinion that pretty much everything out there is of more or less equal sound quality. It's just an issue of getting the features and quantity (# of channels) you desire. Check out the Home Recording Soundcard Wizard. Brandon
