Good article! Right on! I've been working with an artist the past year who totally believes in this. We leave in performance mistakes or glitches (i.e., drummer gets off a 1/4 beat for a second or two, finger noise on guitar, etc) for the "art of it." I posted some of those songs on the Bash This awhile back ("Everytime" and "Honest Man") with some of that looseness you talk about.

i got a "404 - not found" message when i tried to access the article - but yeah, i agree with the basic premise.....the band i've been jamming with has a presonus firestudio project/iMac recording setup and we just record every session. as a result, we've gotten over the "record light fever" that used to set in when we'd try to capture the magic in a normal (expen$ive) studio - which means we no longer fear "mistakes" and can embrace the feel instead. i've got a friend who just *has* to have perfect takes in his home studio - and his music is as stiff as a day-old dead dog.

neat trick 404 to ***show*** us looseness not just talk about it but when does loose become amateur hour wabi sabi tells us not to line everythign up perfectly on a grid but the looseness you mention is not art it is carelessness and antiprofessional not metapro |
