Default This Fear Of Looseness Has Got To Stop

Your wife will leave you. Your kids will hate you or not remember your name. But you'll have tight/stiff sounding tracks!

Thumbs up Re: This Fear Of Looseness Has Got To Stop

Good article! Right on! I've been working with an artist the past year who totally believes in this. We leave in performance mistakes or glitches (i.e., drummer gets off a 1/4 beat for a second or two, finger noise on guitar, etc) for the "art of it."

I posted some of those songs on the Bash This awhile back ("Everytime" and "Honest Man") with some of that looseness you talk about.

i got a "404 - not found" message when i tried to access the article - but yeah, i agree with the basic premise.....the band i've been jamming with has a presonus firestudio project/iMac recording setup and we just record every session. as a result, we've gotten over the "record light fever" that used to set in when we'd try to capture the magic in a normal (expen$ive) studio - which means we no longer fear "mistakes" and can embrace the feel instead. i've got a friend who just *has* to have perfect takes in his home studio - and his music is as stiff as a day-old dead dog.

404 to ***show*** us looseness not just talk about it

but when does loose
become amateur hour

wabi sabi tells us not to line everythign up perfectly on a grid

but the looseness you mention is not art
it is carelessness and antiprofessional not metapro
