Default Songwriting: A Couple Of Reasons Why A Song Might Suck

After recording and mixing 700 songs, I've had the lucky opportunity to mix more bad songs than anyone I know. While big boy engineers grew up learning what you SHOULD do, I've been blistered and calloused on what not to do. Here are a few flaws that I see repeated in songwriting all the time.

I would like to say that I have never mixed someones song wrong but the truth is I have
with my ear I hear what I like not always what composer hears yes I found my self
re- composeing his song to what my ear wanted to hear after beating my self with the song over and over trying to turn his song into mine with my style of mix
it hit me Its his song his style aaaouch that hit me hard
so I went back to the first cut and did as little to it as I could and let his song stay his and it worked and yes you are right If a song truly sucks no amount of mixing will
make It blowup the house
acoustic oh forgive my spelling

Good article,.. articles!

I especially agree with the part on the little rhytmic motif on Sweet Child. I think that little rhytmic bits like that responsible for the rise in energy and drama which leads into a good chorus.
