Default Some lyrics

What do you think this song means? What do you think of these lyrics?

"Out Of Sight"

Yeah, everyone has got more than me
I want all of the things that they do
So what happens when I turn to you?

I look to something that I cannot see
And I don’t know what it could be

While we involuntarily watch a war
We’re constantly doing ourselves in
And nobody ever wins

I know it’s hard for them to see
What they don’t want to believe
Always hanging by the stroke of their own destiny

Yeah, here it comes again
I would fall for all of the things that they said
But they never seem to stick in my head

I look to something that I cannot see
And I don’t know what it could be

While we involuntarily watch a war
We’re constantly doing ourselves in
And nobody ever wins

Hey, interesting lyrics. I was just messing around with it a wee bit with acoustic guitar and one particular line I had trouble working in was "While we involuntarily watch a war". IMHO I think if you moved some of the lines around and write a few more where needed you can get a good rhythm with the lyrics. In their present state I could hit a rhythm in places then totally loose it with the next line. This isn't picking, I have the same thing with my stuff on my first lyric draft of a tune. Are you writing with an instrument or just writing the lyrics as you would poetry? I find that as soon as I can bet a first verse down the rest come easier if I have worked out the music with guitar as I continue to write the remaining lyrics. I think you are on the right track. Would like to hear this one when you are done, it definitely has potential.

Yeah, I have already written this one with music. Music always comes first for me. It's more of a dark sounding 80's song lol. There is a version of it somewhere on this forum. You would have to look at my posts to find it (I'm too lazy to get the link =).

I looked around for it a wee bit but couldn't find it. If you come across it let us know, be interesting to hear.
