Really Bad Writer's Block

I've had a Writer's Block for the last year and still do.

I think "Writer's Block" is a crock. Calling it "Writer's Blog" makes it sound like a person has a disease or something and are a "victim". That's bullcrap.

What's really going on is you've turned the creative side of your brain off. I pondered on the concept yesterday of tricking your brain into being motivated. I do it all the time. You have to come up with little lies to keep yourself going every day. It's called "hope".

Turn off the tv, video games, stereo, ipod and any other external distractions for 1 week....... completely..... I forgot about this method. It was in a book I read once titled The Artist's Way, kind of a touchy feely book, but turning off the tv really did work.

Pardon me for saying so, but if you are not the victim of some serious happenstance that prevents you from trying, and you still haven't written anything since you started this thread asking for help; I don't think you have a passion for songwriting! Enough credible suggestions (nuggets) have been offered here to help you poke some holes in your creative constipation. At the very least, had you put them to use after digesting those bran-like nuggets, a little turd of a song should have slipped out by now!

Just do it, right now, shut down the PC, turn off the tv, pull out a sheet of paper and a guitar or keyboard and write Something/Anything.

I did it today and it feels GREAT!

If you really are a songwriter at heart, it is the best feeling in the world to get something new written.

Let it be lame, just write it anyway!
