Default R&B

I don't sing, but me and my cousin have a lot of ideas for R&B songs. Now we no how we want them sang, but we're not sure how to send them to singers. Do we write notes or something. For one song we had the singer there with us, so they could here how we wanted it sang. Luckily we had good communication. For one song we sold we just threw on the Autotune so the singer would know how to sing it. So for any R&B song writers is there any way of sending lyrics. Cuzz I no how it should song, I just dont no how to write it.

Hey Jerry;

Welcome to the forum. I can tell you how I write my stuff. I use two programs depending upon detailed I want the printed music to be. I always start my writing with Songsheet 5 for Guitar as this is the instrument I use to write. I enter my lyrics in SongSheet 5 and insert chord progressions, key, bpm etc. Most times I don't go any further as I am playing and recording my own stuff. Once in a while the wife accompanies me on keyboards and/or flute. For this she needs the actual sheet music. This is where the next program comes in to play. She takes my Songsheet 5 chord progressions and a basic guitar recording I have made of the tune and with Finale NotePad 2008 writes and prints the sheet music for the tune. Now I am lucky she is a classically trained musician with a masters in flute and piano composition. I could never use Finale Notepad like she does.

Songsheet 5 is my most important song writing software. I usually start out the old fashioned way with pencil and paper. Once I get a good idea of the lyrics I enter them into SS5 and continue refining the lyrics there as changes are so easy and can be made on the fly while I am recording the tune. This may work for you if you gave a singer a copy of the ss5 lyrics/chords and a recording of the music for the tune as you intend it to sound.

Here is a link to my website page that tells more about these programs and has links for download. SS5 runs $30.00 and the version of Finale Notepad we use runs $10.00. IMHO these two programs should be in every song writers software. Audio: Home Recording Studio (Music) / Recording Software

Sorry got so long winded. Hope this helps.

My wife couldn't function without it. She uses th $10.00 version and says it does everything she wants to do and has made here teaching endeavors much easier. I think you will not be sorry. If you know a song writer that uses guitar I feel the same way about Song Sheet 5. I love to be able to make on the fly changes to my music as I record and this is a quick turn to the computer, enter the changes and back to recording. No more pencils and erasers

Take care,
Butch
