Track 5- SOMEWAY Someday, I'm gonna learn to play! Someway, I'll make it big onstage! Somehow, I'm gonna show them all! For Now, All I've got is my guitar! Always one step behind the crowd! I have no reason to be prowd! Everybody got a big label for their band! Biggest dang record deal you could land! Now why not me? What do I need to be? Tell me now! Tell me where to go and tell me how! Today, I'm gonna start a band! One Day, They're gonna understand! One Way, I'm gonna rock out loud! My Way, I'm gonna please the crowd! Always one step behind the crowd! I have no reason to be prowd! Everybody got a big label for their band! Biggest dang record deal you could land! Now why not me? Where do I need to be? Tell me now! Tell me where to go and tell me how! [Guitar Solo] Always one step behind the crowd! I have no reason to be prowd! Everybody got a big label for their band! Biggest dang record deal you could land! Now why not me? What do I need to be? Tell me now! Tell me where to go and tell me how! The recording of this is almost done minus vocals. I have the chords, the drum beat, the bass, and the solo. my microphone and preamp are crap, but I'm saving for a new one.

Glad someone thinks so. I will have a mix up soon, all I have to do is finish the vocals.

For now, new lyrics up for help. I don't really know where to go from here, and it's kind of an awkward question, but does anyone else have lyrics I could use for filler? SUPERSTITION (yes, a song titled after my band) Man left a bar at 3 am, Never Even knew what hit him! He was so DIS-OR-I-EN-TED Left His Burban filled to the brim! Awe, What do you fear? What scares you most? What would you hate to lose? Your mind? Your soul? Your own left arm? The pain-easer they call booze? Awwe- (Superstition) What makes you paranoid, y'know- (Superstition) What makes you wanna run and hide, oh- (Superstition) What sends a chill down your spine, it's (Superstition) What feels like murder and tastes like brine? Next would be verse 2. each chorus is the two latter segments. Can you help? Song premise: what it feels like to be drunk (not that I would know )

But that's the thing. I've heard that thrown around a lot around here, and while it is a favorable step up from whence I came, it doesn't help me any. It's not feedback if you say it's up to me. I don't want to write songs that everyone likes, I just don't want it to suck. So tell me, are my songs REALLY decent, or are you just saying that because it's the general attitude around here? ALSO I have a new could-be-with-some-work rock anthem. It takes an astral feel by starting with a D#m rotation of two handed tapping on the high E, then at my own mental cues, I move down a string (tapping the same frets), and then down and up again. After some small sequences of single notes, I pause for a measure, then go into the sequence thus: |E - - - - E F#G - - A - G - E :|| Don't know if that's the proper time . . . Anyway, it speeds up after a while, and I start shouting "lightning" It truly personifies Superstition's tag-line "Arena Rock makes a comeback"

Here's some bullshit free criticism...it's crap. It's too personal. You need to vague it up, a lot. Try buying all of the 4-5 star records out there, listen to them about 20 times each, and then maybe you'll know what pleases people...but what do I know? (I know what the people want, that's what) You want to play in bars or stadiums? Who's your target audience? Will they like the songs you make? Why are you even trying? Ask yourself these questions and others like them...it's just like writing a paper in english class...you want an A from the teacher (the crowd) right? You damn well better if you want to make it in music. It's all about aptitude and that song has failure written all over it........sorry but these are my two cents. I am listening to a real jam right now as I type this=> Danger's 9H20...and it isn't even his best shit. |

No idea who that is. and I do not want to cater to what everyone likes...I think I'll take geoff956's idea. I'll write my music and let the "crowd" come to me. besides, ALTERNATIVE is the new MAINSTREAM, so if I want to be in the mainstream, I need to be alternative. still, I can't write total crap, you're right. but there will be real lyrics to LIGHTNING.
