Default great song, bad singer

I love to write songs, but I cant capture the emotion when I record. Whats the problem? Can it just be that I have a dull voice?

All my songs have been recorded with me either drunk or stoned, or possibly both

the best thing would to post an mp3 of you singing. Its harsh, but yes, maybe the problem is you have a dull voice. Its ok - not everyone is a singer. Or the problem could be that you have a great voice but arent getting it across when recording.
But you need a 2nd opinion - we need to hear it..

I would say practice, practice, practice man. Its not natural to sing in a convincing emotional way... like if I have a phrase pictured in my mind, and then I try to sing it, it comes out very crappy and forced/cheesy sounding. But I think its a practice issue (which I don't), getting better control and learning how to inject emotion in an appropriate way... not positive since I haven't done it myself haha but I'm pretty sure.
