copyright you need a lawyer for anything that involves the law any answer you get on a music forum is sure to be wrong in some way if not the whole answer see a lawyer before you have problems not afterwards get it all in writing before you write/play note # the first too cheap to get a lawyer at least get everyone to agree in writing and sign it but expect lots of legal hassles later because of mistakes in your agreement -- if you make money -- fat chance -- so sleep tight anyway not worth the money for a lawyer -- everybody just agree that they all get equal rights to anything the group does and put that in writing and sign it like to gamble buy a lottery ticket or just be reasonable/sensible you are not elvis or mikeyj - if they want the old stuff give it to them and go do something new - life is too short for such hassles - more so when you are talking chump change at best |

... but this taught me little, if anything. All I really got out of this was 'Get a lawyer to read the fine print,' which seems to me to be common sense... |

common sense is in short supply typically we did this (typically collaboration w/ each doing something) now we broke up what are my rights - (i think i should own it all ....) i think they are (and are wrong) someone else says no they are (and they are wrong) and for sure both sides lawyers will agree with them while they suck all the money out of their wallets |

You didn't go about explaining getting a copyright for your music registered though, or intellectual property. I think these should be included in your explanation.
