It seems like youtube has a way of making unknown people famous... as far as music goes, I have an idea. Not just posting your songs, but if you post yourself playing good covers of songs that people frequently search, or how-to videos, or just whatever stuff that grabs people's attention and impresses them, then you have a decent chance of them checking out like a myspace link you have in the vid description with a good mindset... there are guys that I personally have checked out like this, and their vids have sooo many views. Probably your best bet of actively finding fans online. |

Thanks for the feedback- I agree, facebook will evntually kill myspace, if for no other reason than that the target audience (consumers) have vacated myspace.

Myspace seems to be getting less popular as people migrate to FB, which then in turns starts serving more ads so the whole thing is in limbo right now. I haven't been successful in either one of these. |

Go to ReverbNation This a wonderful site for promoting and selling out you music...it has connection with face book, my space, twitter...and many more popular web site. You can have your own mail list created there and there is Fan collector also... it tracks your data base for listeners and fans and even manage you selling music account on i tunes...it is a very powerful tool every home musician should have.

well like most of the people online networking has been pointless for me, although for me its more of the fact that out of the 5 trillion people in the world 3.9 trillion of them think that they are in some way a musical genius. although i have never had a negative review in most of those sites, i have had negative comments, but i'd say about 90 percent of all comments left for my songs are positive. but i guess thats just me. but i am a fan of the live performance, not only is it more exciting and by far more rewarding, but its where you separate the men from the boys. Most music sites are frequented by other musicians looking for a music site that can get them fans. so its a vicious cycle that never ends.

Again, thanks for the feedback! Sorry I apparently originally posted this to the wrong part of the site, (newbie mistake - I haven't spent much time in forums like this).

I windred if anyone's opinions have changed now that Myspace has bought ILIKE. It's kind fo interesting. Does that give myspace a kind of trojan horse within Facebook. Will Facebook revamp it's music stuff. Now: if Facebook had it's own music service set up propwerly, Myspace would disappear. But he's a clever Aussie that Murdoch man and he's trying not to let that happen. |
