Default Royalty Rate

There is a record company that offers 9% royalties on my recording submissions.

Does anyone know where that falls in the average of recording contracts?

Newbie here! Thanks

Default Re: Royalty Rate

Can you be more specific?

Mechanical licensing royalties are $0.91 per song per quantity (on average).
Rate is different for songs greater than 15 minutes in length.
This may be where the 9% is coming from.

This is assuming you're holding copyright and/or publishing rights.

Are you giving the record company publishing rights? It sounds like it.

You usually get more than 9% in some kind of co-publishing deal with the publisher and/or record company.

Thanks again Tony...

I've been exploring the use of some newly rediscovered frequencies that are said to have a healing effect on the body at the cellular level and beyond.

As a long-time musician and shorter time music therapist and part-time sound healer, my finding this information about a month ago intrigued me.

The Dr. that presented this material and is promoting it on the web and off, co-founded a record company with a talented guitarist and the info on this site says "Contracts submissions earn 9% for groups and performers. All corporate profits go to Humanitarian charities."

Yes, it sounds like they want to purchase a mechanical license from you.

The U.S. Copyright rate is .91 (or 9%).
