why does Cubase hate me and my Audigy 4?!

So here it is...Cubase has something of an issue with my creative soundblaster Audigy 4. it keeps popping up with the message that is has 'lost communication with the soundcard'. cubase proceeds to ignore its very existance and often even after a reboot. No sound is registered at all - input or output. the card itself can be working fine with all other programs b4 during and after the error msg from cubase.

any ideas? its upsetting me rather!!

Make sure you have the latest version of Cubase and of your driver for the Audigy. Does it do it every time? What happens if you reboot?

i get the error msg everytime without fail. although sometimes, if i'm quick, i can get half an hour of straight recording, but as soon as i stop and try and playback i get the error. even after a system reboot it happens. also, when the soiundcard isn't being detected any audio mixdowns have no sound. i'm gonna try reinstalling the drivers again, but we'll see. as for cubase, i've already tried reinstalling it twice and it still wont work.

Man, you've got me. I have no idea what could be causing this unless you've got a bigger issue going on with your computer.

Problems with Soundblaster Audigy ASIO driver (PC Windows)

Problem: The following problems can occur when using the ASIO driver of the Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy Hardware, if not used with 48 kHz samplerate:

• Audio and MIDI do not run synchronized
• MIDI events are recorded with an offset
• Audioloops are not correctly time-strechted to the song tempo
• Playback has wrong pitch (sounds detuned)

In Cubase the samplerate can be set in the project settings dialogue.

Solution: If you work with 48 kHz samplerate all mentioned problems usually do not occur. Another solution is to replace the hardware completely against audio hardware with ASIO 2.0 drivers without samplerate limitations.
