Ok -
so I've got an external soundcard that I'm using to record guitar/vocals/bass onto Cubase 4 Essentials. It was all set up and working fine...for first 10 minutes. During first 10 minutes every now and then the sound i was playing/recording would be gargled/distorted/or briefly dropout. So I kept recording and when I played back the audio it sounded fine with no issues. So the gargle did not record, I just heard it. Oddly enough, the gargling distortion after 10 minutes starts happening more and more until it just goes nuts and becomes very loud when I hit a note and it become unusable. This is even happening when I switch to direct monitoring on the sound card. But as soon as I quit cubase, everything is fine again and the direct monitoring sounds perfectly normal. So I restart cubase and it's fine...but 10 minutes later same thing happens.
This is really annoying - I'd rather not have to restart cubase every 10 minutes during recording sessions.
I think the problem is cubase based b/c I can play directly through my sound card for hour without a problem, but as a start cubase it gets worse and worse until it's unbearable. I can even play in standalone Amp Sims (amplitude 2) for ever and it sounds fine. But do anything in cubase and you have a 10 minute cap of usability before you have to restart.
Has anyone experienced this at all or have any suggestions to try and fix it?
