Default Two Issues

I'm working with 7 keyboards (all with midi capabilites) that are simultaneously hooked up to MOTU midi clock unit (with USB connection to comp) and MOTU 8 mic pre with firewire hook up to comp. i'm using cubase 4. i'm trying to get midi bussed so that i can get it as an audio track and move on.

i cannot seem to find where the 8 mic pre channels are showing up in cubase. if i can just get the live signal from those keyboards as they are all hooked up via 1/4" plugs. i'd like to just record directly from one of those channels on the MOTU firewire interface.

1) what can i do about the midi bus to audio?
2) if i have to use the mic pre, how can i locate and monitor those 8 inputs?

Assuming your audio interface is installed correctly, press F4. Click on inputs. You probably need to create a new stereo bus (or 4) and select the proper inputs. Then when you create a track to record your audio, those will show up as options.

This is a terminology problem. There is no MIDI "bus" that I'm aware. The only way to convert MIDI to audio is to run it through a synth or sampler as MIDI has no sound on its own.

Once those inputs are setup, click on the monitor button in Cubase.

All of this should be covered in the Cubase Getting Started manual. I HIGHLY recommend taking the time to go through that manual as it'll save you tons of time in the long run.
