Default Track changes BPM when I upload to Cubase?

Hi. I am running Cubase 4 and I have been using it now for about a month. I am having a problem with the bpm of instrumental tracks I upload changing. For example, I upload an instrumental to Cubase to rap over it and the track is not actually longer, but the BPM is increased ridiculously. I had this problem once before but I don't remember how I fixed it (I think it involved the tempo track). I don't understand why it's happening but I think I may have accidentally changed a setting. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with my vocal tracks.... and if i activate the metronome when playing the backing track i'v uploaded, its bpm is ridiculously faster... hence i dont use the metronome, but I wonder if this is why my vocals wont play back in time.... not sure its linked but if you get help with your issue it might help me at the same time... i'm using LE4... has worked perfectly for over a year!

OK, what is upload? You sent a file from your computer to a server on the internet?

That's the only definition I have for upload.

It's not on the menu in cubase. Are you importing a midi file?

A midi file can have tempo changes in it as well as time signatures, as well as voice changes.

I strip all the CC's out of a midi file when I import it if I just want the notes.

You do that in list view.

Some files like Acid loops, for example, have tempo information embedded in them. If Cubase encounters an ACID file it will automatically activate "Music Mode" which will adjust the tempo to match project tempo. In the Sample editor you will see a button with a G Clef icon. Try activating or deactivating "Music Mode" to see if that makes a difference.

when I said upload I was just talking about importing an instrumental mp3 into cubase. sorry about that.

also, I tried the music mode button and it didn't affect the song. but I did notice that when I play the song through the other driver (which would be my speakers on my computer) as opposed to through headphones on my interface (presonus audiobox), the song goes back to normal bpm speed. I think it might be a setting I have applied to my Presonus. does anyone have any idea which setting it could be and would it be easier to just uninstall and reinstall to get back to defaults?

Press Control+T (in Cubase SX3 anyway) to see if there are any weird tempo changes going on.

Are these instrument tracks audio?

Sounds like you might be using the wrong sample rate on the presonus.

Just check that you are not importing Acidized loops...or midi files having tempo information...
