Default SX3 stock drums sounds - 1/2 not working?

Yes, I'm a newb to recording. I got a tascam us122l and a copy of cubase sx3. I'm just trying to get a feel for this kind of thing but I've encountered a couple problems. I bring up the stock dum editor in sx3 and for some odd reason, it seems only about 1/2 of the drums sounds work. I get no response clicking on say, the hi tom, but the low and mid tom will sound.

On top of that, clicking on a drum sound to add it to the drum map, there is a delay from the time that i click and the time that the sound actually plays. However, when I play the drum loop I have made, it plays with no delay (in relation to where the "player line" is on the loop). I head this may be a latency problem, which I adjusted just before shutting down to leave for work. The lack of all the drum sounds really baffles me though.

There's a stock drum editor in SX3? Oh, wait, you mean the LM7?

It's possible that your drum map is wrong, and you're actually hitting the wrong key for the high tom perhaps...

This is probably just a delay due to the amount of RAM you have - happens on my laptop all the time with EZDrummer, but not on my (much more powerful) desktop. It shouldn't have any effect on the actual timing of the track (as you have already noticed).

Yep, that one.

I'm not using a midi controller - I'm using the drumstick feature in the drum map, where you just click where you want to drum sound to appear. The "hit" will always appear on the drum map/layout thing, but only half the drum sounds will produce an actual sound when added into the map/layout.

Thanks. I def. need a new machine. I figured I'd just test the waters to see what I'm getting into before investing in a proper PC. The help is much appreciated.

Well, when I said key, I meant the note that you "hit" in the drum editor window, sorry .
It's still possible that the map you're looking at is telling you that the hi-tom is on one note, when it might be on another. Try putting a "hit" on each note along the "keyboard" and see if you get something....
