Default SX3 samplerate and Autotune....

Right, my problem: I'm recording at 24bit/48khz, (maximum my ADAT equipment will allow), so all my cubase projects are at his samplerate.

]I use a Stienberg VSL2020 sound card (2x adat inputs and outputs) in the card control panel, I have the sample rate set to 48khz, when i use something like itunes, it defaults down to 44.1khz. Not so much of a problem so far...

However, in using Autotune on projects (I know i know, nothings a replacement for a good singer, but hey, some of the bands I work with aren't pitch perfect...) all is fine, however, I found that when opening cubase, as it is intializing the plugins, it drops the samplerate down to 44.1khz, then when i open the projects it lifts it back to 48khz. This means whilst the projects are at 48khz, autotune is running at 44.1khz, unless i remove the plugin from the channel, and re apply it, then it goes back to 48khz. However, this isnt somethnig i want to have to do everytime I want to work on a project!!

Has anyone else had similar problems? Or does anyone know how to change the default ocubase startup sample rate (not in the project setup sample rate)

Much appreciated

I've never heard of this. Does it sound weird? I'm curious how you know it's occuring.

It tunes all the notes to the wrong notes.

When you open the autotune plugin widow, there is a little bit which says the sample rate, even though the tracks are 48khz, autotune says 44.1khz

If I remove autotune from the channel, then reapply it, it comes to 48khz, however this is really annoying to have to do each time i want to work on a project

Hmm. This is an interesting problem. I wonder if it's Cubase or if it's autotune that is misbehaving.

Just out of curiosity, are you mixing in the box? If so, have you noticed any dramatic reductions in sound quality when switching from 48 to 44.1? The reason I ask is because back in the day (long before I was using Cubase) I found that resampling sounded horrible.

In other words, I guess I'd make sure that this sample rate issue isn't causing more problems than it is worth.

If you are mixing out of the box, I'd say to use the highest sample rate you can get away with.
