First post! Oww! My ears are ringing! Lets get everyone up to speed.. I'm using Cubase LE - same version that came with my Presonus Firebox. I'm running this on an Acer Aspire 5101AWLMi laptop: AMD Turion 2.0GHz, 512 L2 cache 120GB PATA HDD 1GB DDR2 I'm doing some basic home recording - Active Lakland 5 string bass direct into channel 1 on my Firebox. I imported some drum loops from "Dscrete Drums" which came with this CD bundle along with the hardware. Everything is going good, I tweaked the bass tone, got the drums leveled (they actually sound great!) and away I go...I record my song playing along to the drums, monitoring with headphones, hit stop when I'm finished, rewind and listen to the masterpiece I just created...everything is sounding good, and then all of the sudden RRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! ALIEN NOISES AT 145 dB!!!!!!!! I throw my headphones off as fast as I can to avoid blowing my eardrums....what the F!%* was that?!! I can't really describe the sound...it almost sounded like my old school 33.6K modem miced up to a giant PA system. I save, restart Cubase, open it back up and all the bass parts I recorded are now gone! So, I re-record, listen back...SAME ALIEN NOISES COME BACK! Its only doing it on the bass track. The drums are fine..can somebody please tell me what on earth that is and whats the fastest way to get rid of it??? I disable my internet and my virus scanner when recording on this machine and close a bunch of programs in task manager. It didn't always do this. It used to be fine. I'm also getting a lot of pops/clicks/pauses during recording and playback...I'm reading more and more into this now. But my main issue that I would like to clear up is the insane noises I am hearing. Yours in agony, KC Thanks |

If this is the Cubase LE4 right out of the box, you may have the original version whcih was very buggy. Go to www.steinberg.net and download the 4.2.1 update. If you already have the update then see what your CPU does during the nuclear event. Have you added any new VSTs lately?
