Default SE3 and SX3 on the same PC

Hi all,
Im working with a guy over the internet. He has SE3 I have SX3. I can easily load up his projects, but he cant load up mine, which makes sense, and I would expect it to be that way.

(Fact check: Is this the way it IS supposed to be?)

(Fact check: is it possible to save an SX3 project to be SE3 compatible?)

As a practical solution, I have purchases a copy of SE3 and plan to install it on the same PC where I have SX3 installed. Is this even doable, or advisable? Will the system allow me to have 2 USB keys? Or do I need to transfer the SE license to the USB key with the SX license (or the other way around)

Thanks for any pointers

No. However you can record using wave 64 or broadcast wave files, which are regular wave files, except they contain information such as where it's located in the project. and things of that sort.

Yes this doable, there is nothing wrong with using two dongles, but if you need the space, transferring licenses shouldn't be a problem either.

He could always export to OMF for you (if SE supports that)

Wow, thanks for the quick response.

PAETEK: Regarding wave64; I presume your suggesting that we exchanges wave files, rather than entire Cubase projects. Were considering doing this as an option, but want to also persue ways to transfer entire projects (plugin settings, etc)
Our current process is like this:
In cubase save project to new directory: With "remove unused audio" option etc.
Zip the entire project directory
FTP the project to an intermediary server
The other guy downloads the zip file from the ftp server
expands the project
and opens it.
make changes...
lather, rinse, repeat.

With broadband and 100GB of storage, this is not unreasonable, though just a few years ago, I would have rejected transferring entire projects.

That said our track counts are still rather low, but once I add in the Addictive Drums (as frozen audio tracks) I expect our typical files size will tipple. Which should still be under 300MB. (He doesn't have AD, but he might buy it, in which case I wont need to freeze the audio and our files will remain smallish)

zildjohn01: To be clear, I (the SX3 user) can open his (the SE3 users) projects without issue, but he (the SE3 user) can NOT open my (the SX3 user) projects. The question then is: can SE3 IMPORT\open OMF files?.

Going forward:
I already have the SE3 on the way, so Ill install it. I can then work on OMF and wave64 options and figure out the exact process for the transfer. The other guy inst as into computers as I am. He is pretty fixed in his situation, I on the other hand dig this stuff and can be flexible.

I'd just render the stereo output of Addictive Drums to a wave file (unless he needs to have the ability to edit the drums) for now and then when you've got all the tracks finished go back to multi-track mode. 10+ tracks will add significantly to your upload/download time.

Update:
SE3 and SX3 coexists without issue. I can even use my sx plugins in se. So all is well on that front.
