Default Re: Problems with Lambda/Cubase LE4

I finally got the thing working, and here’s how.

I wrote about my problems on several related forums, including Cubase’s own, Cubase.net.

There, I received this informative message from “rtoorstrick” who lives in Bloomington, Indiana:

“I just helped a friend set up his Omega with Cubase LE. We found the strangest behavior I had ever seem from Windows. After every restart of the computer, the system would without any warning set the Lexicon drivers to DISABLED! Not the usual yellow asterisk that means a conflict, but the red X that just means everything's working OK, just disabled. Had it been a hardware conflict, it would have been obvious because Cubase wouldn't have been able to find the Lexicon inputs and outputs. In this case, everything looked completely normal inside Cubase, it's just that no audio was going in or out.

We had to go into the Device manager (in Windows, not in Cubase) and click "Enable this device" after EVERY startup. After doing this several times, we downloaded the latest driver from the Lexicon Pro web site, which seems to have fixed the problem.

In all my Windows experience, which is considerable, I have NEVER seen this behavior before. If this is your issue, try downloading the latest Lexicon driver for your device.

PS You Windows gurus may think this had something to do with hardware profile settings. In this case, you'd be WRONG. It was just SPONTANEOUSLY reverting to disabled without being set to do so.”

So I went to the Lexicon website, and downloaded the Windows driver for the Lambda (it looked EXACTLY like the driver that came with the product CD, but I guess it isn’t).Then I installed it and lo and behold saints be praised thank the little baby Jesus and hallelujah the thing worked!!

I rebooted the computer and it worked again!!

So I think I’m out of the woods, at least for now. Thanx again to everybody who replied, and for those of you experiencing the same frustrations as me, I hope the above solution provides some blessed relief.

Sincerely Bruce from Dorset/UK
