Hi: Please be gentle. I've been a professional musician for 40 years. I play piano mostly. I did some writing/arranging with sequencers back in the day,but I am a computer recording newbie. I have just purchased a Lexicon Lambda with Cubase LE4 software. I have installed the stuff, and followed the quick-start instructions provided in the Lambda manual VERY carefully . The Lambda is working (I can hear the stuff I want to record thru my headphones) but NOTHING registers on Cubase. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. There will soon be torn hair on my floor. What might I be doing wrong? Thanx Bruce in Dorset, UK My computer gear: Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 laptop Windows Vista Home Premium OS 1GB memory Lexicon Lambda interface Cubase LE4 software |

So your hearing the input. You have a control panel for your hardware? There's usually a way to send the instrument your playing into cubase, then in cubase you have to tell cubase to use the asio driver that came with your hardware. You choose device setup on the device menu to choose your driver then vstconnections on the device menu to setup a bus to control what comes into cubase. Then on an actual audio track you choose a bus that you setup as an input, then it should record from your hardware.

Thanx for the reply tacman. I'm REALLY new to this so please be patient T7:So your hearing the input. You have a control panel for your hardware? BG:If you mean a physical control panel, with input and output volume controls and a levels meter on the audio interface hardware, yes. T7:There's usually a way to send the instrument your playing into cubase, then in cubase you have to tell cubase to use the asio driver that came with your hardware. You choose device setup on the device menu to choose your driver then vstconnections on the device menu to setup a bus to control what comes into cubase. BG: I may be wrong, but I think I've done this correctly (please see previous post) T7:Then on an actual audio track you choose a bus that you setup as an input, then it should record from your hardware. BG:If you mean choosing in the Inspector the track input source, yeah , I think I did that too... thanx again sincerely Bruce in Dorset |

Hi everybody : I followed the instructions in the help manual carefully (tho I must admit I found the terminology very obscure) and still no go. For the record: on the VST-Connections page under "Inputs" the "Audio Device" is listed as "Lambda ASIO", and the "Device Ports" are "1-2 In/Out 2" for "Left" and "1-2 In/Out 1" for "Right"; under "Outputs" the "Audio Device" is "Lambda ASIO" and the "Device Ports" are "1-2 Out 1" for "Left" and "1-2 Out 2" for "Right". I have no idea what this means, but I think its correct setup, isn't it? BTW, I was assured by people I know and from the reviews that I read that the Lambda would take care of all of the setup stuff at installation and that it was all painless and easy. Well, it didn't and it ain't!! Any help/advice cheerfully appreciated. Thanx Bruce in Dorset/UK |

Thanx for the kind and gentle reply. I need all the help and support I can get. Anyway you quote this from the manual: 3. Open Cubase LE 4, and go to Devices>Device Setup as shown below. 4. Click VST Multitrack and select Lexicon Lambda In/Out (2) as the ASIO Driver (as shown below). DO NOT select Lexicon Lambda In/Out (1). Well, I can't find "VST Multitrack" or either "Lexicon Lambda In/Out (1)" or "Lexicon Lambda In/Out (2)" anywhere in the Device Setup window.. The only device I can select is "Lambda ASIO", which i have selected, just like my manual says to ( maybe its a later model than the one quoted above). In fact, I have done anything and everything the manual has asked me to do about 30 times. Sorry sorry sorry. My frustration is boiling over a bit. Thanx again for replying.. Sincerely Bruce in Dorset UK |

Well I have the latest Lexicon drivers for the Omega and it goes DEVICE>DEVICE SET UP> VST MULITRACK> CONTROL PANEL. But if there is a place to select Lambda ASIO that muzt be it. Now did you create input and output channels? If you go to VST Inputs are they active Hit F4 and tell me what it says.

Hi: Thanx for the reply. Still no luck> Anyhow, I hit F4 On the VST-Connections page under "Inputs" the "Audio Device" is listed as "Lambda ASIO", and the "Device Ports" are "1-2 In/Out 2" for "Left" and "1-2 In/Out 1" for "Right"; under "Outputs" the "Audio Device" is "Lambda ASIO" and the "Device Ports" are "1-2 Out 1" for "Left" and "1-2 Out 2" for "Right". To try to record, I took the following steps: 1)I've opened Cubase 2)I've clicked on File<New Project 3)I've selected "default" inthe New Project Widow 4)I've created a New Folder to store the project on a separate external Hard Drive 5)I've clicked Project>Add Track>Audio 6)I've selected "count1" "Configuration mono" and "speakers M" from the Add Audio Track Window 7)In the Inspector,I've clicked the "Left -Stereo In" box and selected "Stereo In-Left" for the track input source. The record buttons are lit. 8)I've connected my mic to the mic 1 input of the Lambda. When I test it the meters in the lambda repond and I can hear myself in the headphones. 9)I,ve clicked on the record button on the Transport control. After a few seconds a line starts to move across the middle of the screen and the area just to the left of the screen turns red. I speak into the mic, I once again hear myself in the headphones. Nothing registers on the screen 10) I click stop, rewind , and then play. Nothing. Thanx again for your time and patience Sincerely Bruce in Dorset/UK |

Also, I still think you should set up a stereo 1/2 output instead of two mono outputs. also, back at Devices>Device manager>VST multitrack, make sure you have selected LAmbda ASIO and then open control panel and put the slider in the middle.

Hi Mr. Light: I'm about ready to chuck the Lambda thru my window. You wrote: EL:Sounds good. So click on this above and try Stereo in right. BG: I did. Still nothing EL:Also, I still think you should set up a stereo 1/2 output instead of two mono outputs. BG:I don't know what that means or how to do it if I did. This whole process is making me feel really stupid. EL:also, back at Devices>Device manager>VST multitrack, make sure you have selected LAmbda ASIO BG:It goes Devices>Device Manager>VST Audio System for me. I can't find VST multitrack...anyway I've chosen Lambda ASIO in the box beside ASIO driver. Is this correct? EL:and then open control panel and put the slider in the middle. BG: Sorry for being so dumb... Is the control panel the main window?which slider did you mean? Thanx again for your patience. The whole business is making me mental. I think its time for a stiff drink ![]() Sincerely Bruce in Dorset _ |
