Problem With Cubase Le Vst Instruments

Hi there, I am a complete rookie to home recording and recently bought a TASCAM US122L interface that came with Cubase LE so I am using that to do my recordings. Whilst I can use the virtual instrument halione as an instrument track, I don't know how to install new VST plugin instruments because when I go to the devices menu the 'VST instruments' tab is not there, it cannot be seen. Is there something I am missing, do I have to enable something first? Please help me this it is very frustrating

Not sure I'm following this correctly, but...

In cubase, hit the F11 key - in the window that pops up, click on one of the empty slots... choose your VSTi.

If it isn't there, it's not installed properly. VSTs go in the Vstplugins folder under the cubase program folder (usually c:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins if I remember correctly)

I had a problem with my VST with LE 4 now i have the patch i can load them into a track, which is great the problem I now have is that I don't know how to get the instrument to play what do I need to do for drum patterns and basic guitar melodies. Is it advisable to use a keyboard and plug it in that way to create the keys??

I have a classical guitar and I am not able to connect it using the lexicon alpha and the only mic i have is a standard SM 58 vocal mic.

A MIDI controller is certainly one way. A mouse would do it. So would an electronic drum kit.

I'd start with the 58 then. You'll have to crank the gain up high on your preamp and you'll want to keep the 58 back a bit to reduce the proximity effect, but this should work.
