Default Problem with cubase

I have cubase LE with a Lexicon Lambda audio interface, I have went through the getting started file that went with cubase, but for some reason nothing will record. I have tried using a bass guitar with the interface and tried using reason with rewire hooked up. It will show it like it is recording but it wont be receiving any sound into the cubase system. Any help will be appreciated.

What exactly "will show it like it is recording"?
Under VST Audio have you selected ASIO Lambda?
Is this LE4? Have you created inputs and outputs in Cubase?
Can you see activity on the LED's on the Lambda?
Can you see activity on the level monitors in Cubase?
Are you plugging your guitar into the front input jack?
Ouptu level and monitor mix set somewhere near the middle?

Need a little more info here. Also, I'm not sure I'd be messing with REwire until I got the unit working correctly.

It will show it recording but it isnt receiving any sounds so it will just stay a straight line down the middle. I did selct the ASIO Lambda, I couldnt find if it is LE4 all it says is LE, its the one that came with the interface, I created inputs ad outputs, the only light that comes on with the lambda is the blue one that says its plugged into the computer. I dont see the level monitors working in cubase, I have tried plugging the guitar into the front input jack, I have tried the output and monitor mix in multiple places.

Im just going to try to reinstal everything, hopefully that might fix it, if not I remember the guy at guitar center said I could return it because it was an open box and they didnt know if it would work. If anyone could think of anything else I would like to know.

It is probably defective. You should see activity at the Lambda even if it's not hooked up to the computer.
