Also, I was in Guitar Center today, and they had a firestudio project set up, and i plugged a guitar into inputs 1 and 2, and it picked up in the software (apogee maybe?) but same thing with the inputs 3-8 not picking up. So I guess it's not just me. I asked some of the staff up there, but they don't have a clue.

Have you setup cubase to record multiple inputs? It comes with a stereo bus setup. I don't know if firestudio provides all the connections to cubase, with emu you have to set up the connections in patchmix first but lots of manufacturers have it all available in cubase now. So you go to VST connections on the device menu and look at the input tab. You add a bus then click on available connections on the right side of the bus. Just add as many bus's as you need. Then when you set up a track you can choose one a bus you setup in the input of a track.

Following up with what Tacman7 said: If you see the other input devices in the VST Connections -> input tab -> Input device selections (will be in a drop down when you click on the field) , then just add buses as tacman7 says. Then you need map the buses to the audio tracks in the cubase track "Inspector". If you do not see these input devices in VST Connections, then go to the Devices -> Device Setup -> ASIO -> ASIO driver -> control panel (button) and make sure that the input devices are recognized and "active" through the driver. It they are inactive, depending on the ASIO driver used (the ASIO Driect X driver), you may be able to set them to active , then they will be visible in the VST Connections. If they are not active, and you cannot get them active in the dialog, try using a different ASIO driver. |

Kind of an OT question, but seemed appropriate for this thread, apologies if not. I see that Cubase LE4 only allows 8 "physical inputs". Does that mean if I buy something like the TASCAM 1641 which has 8 pre-amp inputs and like 6 line inputs, I'll only be able to record 8 of those inputs at one time with LE4? |
