There is a way to set the tempo to your beat.

Greetings,
I am looking for a solution for which I have long sought. My midi recordings are never done to the metronome, and hence I end up with recordings that do not match up with the beats in the time line, making quantization (as far as I can tell) pretty useless.
Is there a way to normalize the timeline (beatline?) to a given scale? That is, to adjst the "beat"line to fit or approximate the timing of my recording? Another way to put this, would be to change the tempo of my recording without changing the beat scale. Merely changing the tempo changes both the "beat"line along with the recording.
I have tried exporting the midi files at one tempo, then re-importing them back with the project set at another tempo, but the files somehow "remember" all the data from the project it was exported from.
I am using Cubase LE4
Thanks much,
Allasso

I never finish a mix, just abandon it.
In some hosts, I have Tracktion and Reaper, You can drag he edge of the midi clip while holding a key, Aux in this case, and the midi clip will re-size.
It is a bit of a trail and error process but that is what I do.
thank you, Tacman.
I already read that article, but somehow I am not getting explicitly how to do what I am after on that. LE4 doesn't have a beat calculator, so maybe that is part of the problem, but I have calculated the tempo and tried setting the tempo track and still get the same results.
Maybe I am missing something obvious.
Thank you, P.P.T.
Tried all the keys I can think of. Nothing.
I was just saying there are quite a few options for changing the tempo but none of them are easy, and I've not tried them, just read about them.
It's a whole lot easier to play to a drum track for me.
