Hi, Just have a motif for a few days now. I finally get there so i can record stuff, but when i mixdown to .wav or .wma, i hear no sound? Is there someone who can help me? I have: Cubase Studio 4 Yamaha Motif XS6 Focusrite Saffire Windows :P I have my time markers set=up (they are blue) I tried rendering with real time to desktop as a .wav and .wma but no succes. I tried rendering to mixdown to audio and pooltrack (both options) nut no succes. How can i resolve this so i can export my audio to an .wav and/or .wma? Please help me |

I don't think you can use external instruments in Studio 4 so you have to first record the output of your synth to a wav file. Then the mixdown will work. If you could use external instruments then you could setup the xs so it appears as a VSTi inside cubase. Then you could do a mixdown with just a midi track but it would do it in real time.

Routing; Well i have my Motif connected with a usb kabel on my computer. So this would be a midi signal. Than i have the audio outpouts aff the motif, in the line in of my soundcard, this way the motif is connected to my soundcard, and the sounds will be played over my monitors. I think that the sounds should be recorded from the line in of my soundcard but i dont know how to configure it. or is it totally something els |

Your soundcard needs a ASIO driver or if they don't make one use asio4all. Then choose that driver in device / device setup-vstAudio. Setup the connections between cubase and your card in device/vstconnections. Create a bus, name it, connect it to the inputs where your keyboard is plugged in. Create an audio track and set its input to what you setup in vstconnections and you should be good to go.

Okey thx !! I'm much further now ![]() My soundcard has an ASIO driver so i use that one. I have to check what you mean by vstconnection, but what i did now is the following. I created an input bus and an output bus. I had to create 2 audiotracks. The first one i route to the left channel and the second one i route to the right channel. (because i can route one channel to one audiotrack) This is how it works? I'm afraid that with al the routing en bussing i loose sound quality. True or Not? Thank you all very much for helping me with this ! |

device menu/VSTconnecions No, this is all digital, you loose nothing going through internal bus's. Basically you map out your interface in cubase VSTconnections and you can give them names that you recognize. So if you map two Hi-z inputs you could name them guitar 1 and guitar 2 etc. then where your mic is Vox1 and so on. So when you create an audio track you don't have to remember what input just select guitar or vox etc. You need to understand your signal flow, how you want the signals going in and out of cubase. It can get complicated especially if your doing any external processing.
