Default NO SOUND in Cubase Studio 4, using jamvox. RAGE.

Hello, I have a slight problem using Cubase Studio 4. I get no sound at all.
Maybe it's just a triviality. I took some screenshots, so maybe you can check and see if I have somehow screwed up those settings.

I use the JamVox digital amplifier, I usually have a studio mic through a mic preamp AND a guitar connected to it, but I removed the mic for troubleshooting. Hoping to make it easier for me to solve this problem. I also (want to) use EZdrummer with the DFH addon, but first things first.

I also tried switching the VST Audio System to JamVox Asio Drv, but I still have the same problem which I describe at the bottom. My friend said he uses the directx full duplex one, and he uses Cubase3 with JamVox (same unit as mine), and everything works for him.

Now I try to play off a random song, Coldplay - Beautiful World, and after I have pressed 9 (play) and click on the track, nothing happens. I then do it again and this time the cursor changes to the "scrub" cursor instead, which btw I have no idea what does... I'm probably just being stupid but I guess there's no shame in asking for help

Edit: I've deactivated the onboard soundcard through Bios, there should be no conflict-related issues.
Edit2: I guess I should also state that I have my speakers directly connected to the Amplifier, and I have sound on every other program, including guitar rig 3.

I would try and use the driver made for the device if they have a real asio driver.

I wouldn't use DirectX, direct sound, or anything else.

Have you downloaded the latest ASIO driver from the manufacturers web site?

That latency is too high to be of any use. You need numbers like 4 to 15 for using VSTi's live.

Does the device work as advertised on its own?

This is not sold as an audio interface but that's what you want to use it for...

I would have a close look at your friends setup if you like how it works for him.

Thanks a ton for your response. I will use the JamVox Asio Drv and try to fix it with that in use. Well I downloaded a patch, the jamvox software v1.10, would it be reasonable to assume that the asio drivers are updated as well?

Yes I realize the latency is too high, I must have missed it.

It works perfectly in every other way, just not with cubase =(

Yes it's definately not a professional piece of equipment meant for this kind of thing, but so far recording with it has worked well, and the sound quality is quite good.

I would take a close look but he lives 700km away from here, and getting there costs a fortune because of the shitty norwegian transport network... And he's hard to get a hold of because he's totally whipped... Damnit.

Clicking the control panel button does nothing.

Edit: By turning on and off the "Lower Latency" option, I got 2.177ms latency @ output. Must be a weird display bug.

Still no sound though =(

The track your trying to play... it has its output set to stereo out, what's that bus set to in devices/VSTconnections? Jamvox?

Your not running 24bits are you? That can be a problem for some cards. Project Setup. And 44.1k Sample Rate.

Your not running the jamvox software at the same time as Cubase?
Should just be cubase by itself.

All I can think of...

Yep, output at stereo out.
Yeah that bus shows Jamvox both in and out.
16 Bit, at 44.100 kHz sample rate
Nope, I close all programs before running cubase, to run it as smoothly as possible.

Again, thanks for your reply! You can see now why I'm completely lost here =(

So I said "F*** IT!" and formatted my PC, and got back to XP. I had like 200 programs installed and there was probably just a conflict between some drivers or whatever. Everything is as it should be now though

Yea, I have to dump the hard drive every few years, things get screwy.

I saw in another post...you never mentioned Vista, that would have been my first recommendation, dump that.

Yeah, probably should've mentioned that. Thanks for your help though, mate.
