Default No sound from my keyboard, but it records fine. What's going on?

I run my keyboard through my soundcards's audio in and it works fine. When I open up Cubase SX3, the sound goes away. Why is this happening?

There is still a signal coming in because when I tap the keys, the green meter goes up. I simply can't hear the sound from my computer speakers. I've checked my audio settings and nothing was muted. All normal.

Thank you so much!

Create a midi track and set the input to your keyboard and the output to your soundcard or back to your keyboard.

My keyboard isn't a MIDI keyboard. It simply has an audio out.

Regarding your suggestion, I set the output to my soundcard, but I cant find an option to set my input to keyboard. please help

How does it work fine? You plug it in your computer and the keyboards sounds come out of your computer speakers without running any software?

cubase is now in control of your audio system. You have to tell cubase what you want to do. If you create an audio track and set the input to your soundcard and you see the meter moving then it will record the audio. If you want to hear it at the same time push the monitor button on the track (orange button)

You have to setup your audio cards drivers in cubase under device menu, device setup.

Regular sound cards in computers can have problems performing DAW duties but you should get it to function.

Thank you. It was the "monitor" button that was the issue!

Now there's a new problem. a MIDI drum track I created that normally worked fine just started outputting at an insanely low volume.

the only way I can hear it is if I solo the track and put the "volume shift" bar all the way up to 126. Any thoughts?

A midi track is just midi, so it doesn't make any sound, you can make sure something didn't set its volume to zero (click the plus and look a the volume sub track) but you have to look at what it's sending it's data to. A VSTi? Then turn its volume up or if you hold the shift while dragging you set the trim in the mixer.
