Hi. I have had Cubase SX3 working on my PC for about 3 months now and have recorded a few guitar tracks to test out my soundcard (an Edirol UA-25) which I got about 2 months back and the recording process was a success then. It was all working until I bought a new guitar pedal and tried recording using the lines out on that (so I can now record guitars in stereo). However, suddenly my soundcard/Cubase is not working. Basically what happens is that I have no playback whatsoever either through the speakers that come from my computer or from the headphones that are plugged into my soundcard. I cannot even hear the click track. I have checked that all the device settings are correct and I think they are, the Edirol soundcard is the only device showing and it all seems enabled (although I am not too experienced in these technical parts of music production). I have tried recording directly from my guitar as I did before and that doesn't work either so I doubt it is my new pedal causing the problem. I have tried endless combinations of pressing buttons on my soundcard and have reinstalled both the soundcard's drivers and Cubase SX3. I can hear myself playing through the soundcard when the monitor button is on and when I record onto Cubase the screen shows what I would expect to see (the image of the recording is visible), but I cannot hear the recording or the click track when I press play. Please help! I have been toiling for hours! |

OK I fixed the problem by simply reinstalling my soundcard drivers (again?). However, I have a new problem. When I try to record, nothing happens. No wav file appears and there is no audio activity showing in the transport bar. I know this one can be fixed because I have used this soundcard to record successfully in the past. I just can't remember exectly where I change settings to get it to this stage. Help please |

What happens when you play back a file you've already recorded? If you press F4 are the ins and outs routed properly through your Edirol? Set your Ediral as the default soundcard in Windows. Then play something through Windows Media Player. What happens? In the mean time, check out: Soundcard Troubleshooting 101 |

Thanks very much for the feedback. Hopefully you will be able to lend me a hand with this. Quote:
Then when I play the track I can hear absolutely nothing, including the click track, which is once again not making any sound. Quote:
I have no idea how to do this. I am running Windows Vista. |

I've got the same problem. Although I'm using Ableton Live 7. Basically my Edirol UA-25 will either work fine outputting but the input isn't picked up in the software (you can hear a guitar plugged into it though). I then reinstalled the drivers for it and it'll then pick up the inputs but won't playback audio, either in Windows or Ableton. You can still hear the guitar played through it though. Help. |
