If you can't hear it, how do you know? Also the guitar sounds don`t change with VST pluggins send effects
As for the no output problem, do you have the stereo outputs of Cubase routed to your Inspire? You can find this in the F4 menu.

G`day people,
I`ve just set up my Presonus 1394 inspire interface firewire with the cubase LE bundle on a pc with Vista 32 bit Home premium. I`ve got sound and sound meters reacting on the Cubase and Presonus panels. Its clearly recording. You can see the audio levels on the cubase reacting spontaneously to the guitar but it wont play back the recording. I`ve got speakers attached to the presonus. Also the guitar sounds don`t change with VST pluggins send effects...though you can see the `Value` icon reacting to the guitar strum on the DaTube for instance.( Yes I`ve dragged the effect level up or L to R so to speak). Is there something I should be doing with speaker configurations or output on my pc thats not so obvious....or obvious but I`ve just not seen wood cos a trees. I would be very grateful for any help. I can hear the guitar dry sound whilst recording just as you would playing through a clean channel on a guitar amp. It doesn`t change when adding vst effects through. I just can`t hear anything on the playback. Will check cubase outputs as suggested and let you know. Thanks brov
It sounds like you're hearing what's going INTO the interface... does this interface allow for direct monitoring like that (I have an Alesis IO26, which does... you can fade/mix the signals from direct to cubase output)? It could be that this is the problem
IBM T41 thinkpad: 2Gb Ram
Cubase 3 SE
Alesis IO26 Interface
Headphones / HiFi for monitoring!
Too many cigarettes
copious amounts of tea
You might want to check the vst connections in cubase, make sure that the ouputs are set to the inspire, and make sure those are the outs connected to the speakers.

Cubase has a "direct monitoring" button that you want to disable. You don't want the sound to enter your audio interface and come right back to you. You want it to flow thruogh Cubase first.

G`day people, thanks everyone for your help. I have got my computer/presonus inspire/ cubase LE to play ball. I think the problem was the audio file when selecting a New project, vst output connection on cubase and the latency , although it still cuts out from time to time. (Not sure where to find the direct monitoring button on cubase though).......and reading the manual a million more times......The send effects on cubase LE are ok but the distortions/overdrive is pretty poor. I want to DI my Hughes and Kettler Zen amp ( Which is Top Draw in coolness......Yes, I`m a big Alex Lifeson/ Rush fan) into the Presonus interface....Any do`s or don`ts. Thanks again . Pete
Each individual track has the little button close to the solo and mute buttons. It's a circle. At least it is in Cubase SX3.Not sure where to find the direct monitoring button on cubase though

Happy New Year from Australia(Belated due to sensational NYE party),
I was just wondering if anyone recommends a type of Home recording microphone mainly for Vocals and Acoustic guitar stuff. I`m using Cubase LE and an inspire 1394 firewire( all of which I like alot) with my PC. I`ve heard a few good things about CAD mics. I`ve got about $400/500 Aus ($350/450 US) to spend. Would be very grateful for any help. Fair dinkum! Cheers. Peter![]()
