Default Multitracking with Cubase SE3

Does anyone know how many tracks you can record at once with Cubase SE3? I want to be able to record 8 at once.
I'm thinking of buying it, but need to make sure it'll do what I want first. I know everyone recommends Cubase 4 but it's too many $$ for me right now and does a lot more than I need. I will just be recording vocal tracks and possibly micing a piano or violin. I think SE3 will be good if I can record 8 tracks at once. Can't seem to figure it out by reading reviews...

I myself have not purchased cubase yet. But I'll lend my help if I can. Perhaps this page will help you. Feature Comparison :: Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH.

Do you actually want to record 8 tracks at once? Or do you want to be able to record 8 different tracks? According to their web page you can have up to 48.

Eight tracks a once means you would have for example 8 different instruments playing at the same time and record them all simultaneously. This seems a bit absurd to me, but also very interesting as I do a lot of avant-garde/bootstrap recording.

Edit: There is also a student version of Cubase much much cheaper, if you can get your hands on a student id.

Yes I'm actually wanting to record 8 tracks at once, not total. In more professional choirs, you usually have 8 parts, though I would actually be using 4 mics. 1st and 2nd Sopranos, 1 mic. 1st and 2nd Altos, 1 mic. 1st and 2nd Tenors, 1 mic. And Baritone and Bass parts would use one mic. The other 4 would be used for solos, and accompanying instruments (piano, violin, etc.). Realistically, I'll usually only be using 6 or 7. My interface has 8 preamps though and I need a little flexability.

Checking the link you posted, it looks like it does do 8. I think... It says physical inputs/outputs = 8. Does that mean I would be able to select up to 8 separate inputs? If so, it'll work for me.
