Answer assumes you're running windows...
STOP. Before you add anything new to that disk! And if you have added anything new, it may already be too late.
Did you check the recycle bin? (unlikely, but you never know)
If you have a disk defragmenter running - KILL IT - NOW. In fact, if you have any program set to run automatically that may write to that disk, KILL IT.
Did ChkDsk run recently? Let's hope not...
Did you check the recycle bin?
Is system restore running? Is it running on the recording drive? If so, use it.
Otherwise... do you know the names of the tracks? Or are they obscure names generated by cubase? (This doesn't really matter, but it's easier to look for a known name than having to guess and undelete a whole bunch of stuff hoping that you find it).
Were these files actual files? Or edits, slices (perhaps renamed)- all of which are actually contained in larger files (with potentially different names)?
Likewise, were they multi-take files? (you could have renamed the individual takes - these could be present still in the original files... and are usually obviously much bigger than a one-take file).
Hope something there helps...
Now, whether or not you get your files back, invest in a new drive devoted to backups. Using a "scheduled task", run a backup that copies all changed files from your recording drive to the backup drive, DAILY. (Look up the XCOPY command). And when the drive is 18 months old (or full, if that's sooner) archive it and get another one. Then, this (or anything like it) will never happen again.
If you want help with XCOPY, shout.
