Default Midi tracks help

Hi, so I'm starting out with cubase and I'm stuck on one thing.

How do you get the same VST in two different midi tracks?

I've got Vir2 Instruments, the first midi track has some church organs, I want some drums on the second midi track. When I select the Kontakt Player and load the drums, I can't play anything on my keyboard, it doesn't even show the keys I'm presssing.

What am I doing wrong?

The track monitor is on, volume tuned up...can't get it to work.

I've even tried opening the Kontakt Player as a separate VST in the device options (VST instruments).

This may better illustrate what I want to do:

Kontakt (or at least the version I have in my bundles) allows you to load your samples simultaneously, right? You need to select the midi channel that each set of samples is taking instruction from (top left qtr of the Kontakt screen), then set up separate midi tracks in cubase for each one. Make sure that these MIDI tracks are both feeding out to Kontakt on the corresponding channel numbers.

Assuming you mean one instance of X virtual instrument all you have to do is route the output of both MIDI tracks to that single virtual instrument.

In the image, I see your output for the MIDI track is "MIDI Gate". What is that? Is that your virtual instrument? It doesn't sound like it.
