Default midi track fades?

How can I fade in and out on MIDI tracks without having to export and re-import them as raw audio tracks?

CC7 is midi volume though CC11 (Expression) is often preferred. The problem is that you need to put it on each track. However, you could do the fade once and copy to a bunch of new tracks and set those tracks to match the MIDI tracks you use. GM2 uses a universal SYSEX message to handle master volume, but I've never used it... I have no idea how you would go about sending a track fade through SYSEX but with all them numbers, I bet it would be easier to put a CC7 or CC11 on each track!

I look at MIDI as the peformance. While a person can play lighter and lighter that is a different animal than using volume faders to adjust the volumes.

I NEED volume automation to mix a song. So, in Cubase SX3, I just manipulate the output of the MIDI track with volumes and such.

There may be ways in MIDI, but I can't imagine them being as intuitive as just go old fashioned mixing.

yeah just set up an automation track for the midi track and draw in or record a volume fade in or fade out. piece of cake.
