Default MIDI problem: notes recorded on top of eachother! Please help

Hello,

I'm using Cubase 3sx and i'm having a huge problem recording midi. When i press record, I can see that the program is picking up all the right notes but it sticks them ontop of eachother and at the very beginning of the record start time. So, it basically makes one big chord right at the beginning, and that's it. Auto-quantize is off. Any ideas? Thanks a ton!

Jeff

This has been asked here several times. I know I went through it too at one point. I want to say it had something to do with how "midi thru" was set, but it's been a really long time since I encountered this.

If you figure it out, post the solution because there are a lot of people who have this issue.

Hi Jeff,

I had This problem with the notes being bunched together after a record to.

I spent a lot of time and money on getting to the route of the problem.

The first thing i would advise is to download from steinberguk the latest version of sx3 (i think its 3.1.1 ), this deals with whats known as the emulated ports problem.(which sounds like what your getting)

Secondly i was originaly using a Roland/Edirol Fire wire sound interface and with the older versions of SX3 i could never get over this problem.

After Numerous phone calls to steinberg Tech support and Roland tech support , I sold it and then purchased an M-Audio 4-10 (also fire wire) , the problem was resolved after this.

Hope this is of help,

Dave

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum. I've been having this same issue since a long time ago. I'm a beginner in the recording world. I've always used Cubase SX3 with my PC. I used to have an M-Audio Firewire 410 and never had this issue. Now I upgraded to a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 and I'm having this issue and I have no idea how to stop it.

Every midi note I record is placed at the beginning of the recorded bar... any updates about this?

Thanks in advance.
