okk,,when i click on not connected audio interface is not to be seen.
when i check midi port set up.. it shows device- windows midi, I/O-out, port system name as microsoft GS wavetable sw synth, state - inactive.
i have 2speakers connected though.

"No audio or midi interface" -- So you want to play out through the computer sound card? And that works? You say you can listen to music through Windows media player?

yea.. i can listen songs thriugh winamp or media player.. but i cannot hear in cubase 4,, im not sure which settings to change.. it indicates no vst input/output connections nor my sound card is visible.

Press F4 in Cubase. Make sure the outputs are set to your audio interface.

Have you went through the Getting Started guide in Cubase?
