What version of Cubase are you using?

Vst and midi stuff is handled slightly differently in a few of them...

Hi,

I am using Cubase 5 in Windows xp64. I moves the Kontakt VST Plugins to my Program Files (x86) -> Steinberg -> Cubase 5 -> VST Plugins -> Other...folder, and Cubase now sees them, but it doesnt see the outputs. The outputs of my gear show up as "Stereo". The outputs in Kontakt show up as

Kt. st. 1 (1)
Kt. st. 1 (2)
etc
etc...

Why does Cuebase not see these outputs, why does Kontakt not see my sudio card outputs?

There are two ways to add a VI in Cubase 5. An instrument track or using the instrument rack and MIDI.

If using the former, you only have access to the main outputs. Instrument tracks are not intended for multiple instruments within a single plugin instance.

If you are using the instrument rack, and setting up a MIDI track, as you would in previous versions of Cubase, only the main outputs appear in the mixer until you add others. You can add others by clicking the icon to the right of the e (edit) button on the instrument rack. The icon is like a square with an arrow pointing to the right. It's kind of subtle! This will allow you to select whichever outputs you wish to see in the mixer.
