Default To The Kings Of Cubase Court!

Hey Folks, tis I The Cubase Jester... With alot of help from Vulcanizer and Electriclight, I overcame my issues. Thanks guys. I have an issue that I think is Way greater than the previous...

When I tap the spacebar to play, or the * to record, I keep getting this crazy snap, crackle and pop. The tracks play over-the-top (I love that movie lol) of each other. For example, I just tapped play and its doing all that garggled crap, then in the middle of the garggling and popping it plays just FINE! I don't get it ya'll...

I said echo in a previous thread, but that was a poor word choice.(my bad) I went and disabled all the sound settings on my PC, so no Windows sounds will interfere. There is no screensaver set(not that it would matter I think), no automatic updates, no power options set, or anything else that would send me up that tree. ALL disabled.

I went and fiddled with buffer settings an all, but I seen no change. I want to set this set-up I've been reduced to on fire and throw it into my "argue EVERY NIGHT at 3:14 a.m." neighbors window! I'm sure this is another problem that is simple as the last, but geeeez...

To the Kings of Cubase Court, I humbly request THINE presence...

What latency are you running on your interface?

I think under devices/asio there somewhere should be a button to get the control panel to change it.

That sounds strange, my computer was a little funny at 3ms so I moved it up to 4ms.

So your not playing keyboard with a VSTi in real time or anything like that...

Could we get a basic computer/OS/interface description?

Your computer is not able to do what cubase wants it to do. So is that because the computer just isn't up to the task or is there something in there causing the problem.

It used to work fine? or this is a new setup?

Sounds to me that the buffer settings need to be changed.... 325.something ms seems rather much...

What interface are u using? Have u tried a different sample rate... this might solve this situation.

Ok I just skimped thru ur last post and I see the issues that the immortal ones helped with... Now to me its the latency... try the asio4all driver... it might help where the tascam one won't....

THANKS for the reply, though a lil late! lol. I've finally gotten it to work pretty flawlessly thanks to the immortal ones as you called them. I'm still trying to find that "t-pain" autotuner(vocoder) for my folks so he can shut-up about doing his song using that effect on part of his vocals. (I told him he needs to get off t-pain's satchel) If you could help me locate it if its on here, I'd be much oblidged. Again, thanks for the "better late than never" help!

Oh thats easy... You need auto tune... If you can get your hands on the program I can tell you what you need to set up to get it... Then its just a matter of changing the key to get it to fit right...

Its a cool over saturated effect. The artist I work with ask for it all the time (everyday like 2x) but I rarely pull it out unless I feel the track needs it... (Call it what you want!, but I would be up to my eyeballs in autotuned tracks!!)

Don't get me wrong, I like the effect but its "over-saturating" the creativity of some people just because its(autotuner) hot rite now. When Roger Troutman was using it it sounds so much better.

I know he had the "tubed" version of it but it just sounded better to me. Anyhow, norb922 told me that its a program by Anteres that I can go get from GC but I dont want to invest in it because I'm purchasing an Open Labs NeKo TSE Workstation soon that has everything anybody should need in a home environment. Go check it out, its really worth the scratch.

For 5 grand you end up with like $60-70k in software and hardware, so go figure... So is there anywhere I can get it for THA FREE!? I have a software dude(that can get ANYTHING) but he just left for Egypt a couple days ago so I'm kinda stuck. I KNOW ITS GOTTA BE ON A SITE SOMEWHERE FOR FREE! I KNOW IT! Help me get one of t-pains tuner babies outta my HOUSE!!! Thanks.

Ahh I am familiar with the black market and I understand the hype behind the effect.

Well you can download the demo from antarestech.com. and set up is pretty simple for the effect... Or do a search you might find it bundled with other software...

also check Youtube.com they have a bunch of videos, thats how I actually learned how to use it.

Im so familiar with the Neko/Meko and understand that its a powerful tool. The only thing that I was concerned about was that its an all in one unit. Which means in the event that it needs to be repaired it will have a considerable downtime and shipping cost.

I posted about it here sometime ago but got no response. The concept is well thought out and it appears to be very well suited for us in the rap/hiphop community. Also considering that a Korg M3 cost anywhere between $2500-3000 and then a comparable computer is $850 (custom build) I dont see it as to much a stretch to jump $500 more for a meko ($3500 I was actually looking at this as an upgrade but Im good at present!!)

Hey I can give you like 3 of my auto tuned tracks... lol What you got to trade?

TRUE... That has been my MAIN AND ONLY concern... I don't have any tracks that I would be willing to trade with you at this juncture unfortunately. I'm working on a project of my own as well as with my fellow bandmembers. The autotuner is for my friend that likes to play wit the mic! LOL! Eventually I will use it on a track, but it won't be no time close. To commercial rite now for me... What does your current setup consist of?
