Exclamation Just started :S

Hi, I'm very new to recording and I just got cubase LE along w/ my tc electronic konnekt 8 interface. I recorded guitars and the monitor bars show that the input does work and the waveforms do get recorded. The playback doesn't work though.. I don't get any sound during recording and I can't hear what I recorded.

Also I don't know what VST plugins are and how to use them.. I am hoping to use something to get me a electric guitar sounding sound from my guitar cause I'm not really tracking this through mic & amp..

First off: Have you read your manuals? It's always a great place to start.

If you have, then we can proceed from there.

I'm learning the TCnear software myself so I know it takes some time to understand what's going on and which way signals are going.

VST is more of processing type plugins like compressor, delay, reverb, etc.

VSTi is a sound module (synth/sampler) that you would send midi to it and it makes sound.

You have the TCdrivers selected in cubase devices/device setup VSTaudio?

I selected all ASIO TCnear's for the inputs in the device setups and stuff. I get a play back in cool edit pro but in cubase it isn't really working. What about the outputs? I set them as soundmax. and Yes I have read the manual and I did what it showed which was fairly simple but I get no playback.

During recording, do you hit the monitor button? A little yellow speaker icon next to the recording engage button on the track?

As for outputs, you may need to go to "Devices" and set up an output bus.

Do you have an output buss set up?

Do you have the monitor button on during playback?

Both of theses will be cause to not hear the playback.

What is sound max.

You set all the inputs? what inputs? Tracks?

You have to create input bus's and output bus's in device/VSTconnections.

Then for each bus you would see a choice from TCnear like TCnearAsio input 1, etc.

So you attach real inputs/outputs to the bus(s) you created and the bus's will show up in your project as choices for audio track inputs and outputs.

Could you give me a step by step on that tacman7 for cubase?

I thought I did.

What do you see in VSTconnections?

There's a default input and output bus created, if you click them several times you can rename them. And you can choose what they are connected to.
So you could name it guitar and tell cubase what input you have your guitar plugged into. etc.
Then add bus button to add more. Same with output.

When you create an audio track in the project window and click on the input, you should see 'guitar' as well as any other bus's you created.
