Hey guys! I'm glad to be in a specific Cubase forum! I recently installed an updated version of Cubase because the old one would no longer install on my Mac. I'm running a firepod with it, and I used to have no problem running the device setup. But as of now, I am not able to follow the instructions in my manual to configure the device because the program has been changed a bit. My main problem is that I am not able to assign an input for each mic, which puts a demise on multi-track recording. Can you guys help me out? I am running Cubase LE 4, Macbook Pro, Firepod. Thanks a lot! |

Have you looked under Device Management/Multitrack Setup? There you can select your device and once it is configured with the correct driver, I would think you would be on your way? Also on the devices are the VST Inputs settings - make sure you can see all of your Firepod ports are there. You can rename them from here as well.

Idk on cubase 4 but in LE 1 you go to Devices-Device Setup - VST Multitrack : then select presonus ASIO under the driver drop down. This is how I setup on my XP machine running LE 1.10.101 so I don't think I should have changed too much Steinberg likes to keep things similar (this may have changed after the buyout by Yamaha) |

I can second what odd says. That is exactly the setup I am running and that is how I did it.

My drummers dad just gave me his old cubase 4 licence (upgraded to proTools) and that is how I set it up. The multi channel setup is alittle different you go to conections and make subgroups and such then add the inputs

That is a hell of a gift. Enjoy. I have just ordered the Studio version, which was only $199 b/c I am a night student in college and got the educational version. The full on 4 version is like $899 or something. Sweet.

I know he almost gave me sonar back when all I had was my GNX4. He lost his big studio when he moved so I might have to give it back when he builds out his new studio . Now he's just running out of a little M-audio while his huge 16 channel rack is in storage. I'm gonna take advantage of this as long as I can, although his studio was much nicer and I didn't have to worry about cleaning it.

And with that...out come the angry Cubase fans, villagers with torches in their hands, all Seriously, because of Pro Tools position in the industry, I think the majority still believe it is the best you can get. I know I did only until about a month ago, when I started researching which DAW was the way to go. Your forum here convinced me to go to Cubase, even though I personally knew Sonar, Ableton and Acid Pro users all telling me that their system was the best. The number one issue for me with PT was the hardware limitations.
