What the heck!! I can't hear the clicktrack for some reason. I am able to record and play back fine, everything is there, sound...etc. I've read the manual everything is set up as per the manual. Yet when I record or playback I don't hear the click track.......I am using Cubase Studio 4. Any thoughts?

I have the exact same problem with cubase studio 4 and presonus firestudio interface. no audible clicks or beeps, but I can see MIDI activity on the meter. I also dont get any audio when i play MIDI files in powertab or guitar pro. Im pretty sure I have cubase set up correctly (tempo track is on, metronome settings are correct, etc). this seems to indicate its an interface problem with playing MIDI sounds. ????????

Make sure you are routing your Audition bus to your main output. It is usually routed elsewhere by default. Brandon |

The Audition track is routed within Cubase. Press F4 and look around at the top tabs. I think they may call it "Studio" or something. Brandon |

I had this same problem also using Studio 4. Just managed to work it out. I found on two occasions, it was either one of these issues. The first time, the click wasn't applied to an audio output. Hit F4, opening VST Connections, and select 'outputs' from the menu bar at the top, then select one of your outputs, and there should be a column at the end called 'click'. If you simply left-click one of the output rows in the 'click' column, 'click' will be applied to that output. I also found, that one of the kids had changed the bell tone to so low and quiet, I couldn't pick it up. (No idea why.) Hold ctrl. and left click the 'Click' button on the Transport Panel to open the metronome window. You may need to edit the MIDI or audio click settings. Hope this helps, as none of the other replies I found here helped me. |

yeah I got the click thing solved in cubase, but I still dont get any audio output from playing a MIDI file, guitar pro file, or powertab file. For example, if I double click on a .mid file, windows media player opens up and plays back the file, but I dont hear anything. I dont think this is a cubase problem-it has something to do with my firestudio interface, but I cant figure it out for the life of me. i emailed presonus tech support, but they told me things that I already knew and have tried. for those of you with external firewire interfaces, what happens when you double click on a .mid file? Do you hear anything? on my other machines with built in souncards, you just double click on the .mid file and it plays back in windows media player no problem. |
